The Facts About Nowruz and Dua Importance

The fact that people actually did read prayers or the Qur’an and asked for the new year to come is a sign that this holiday is becoming more like an Islamic holiday. The Muslim idea of Eid (the holiday): Eid only appears once in the Holy Qur’an, in verse 114 of chapter 5 (Maa’idah). “Jesus, son of Mary, said, “O Allah!” Our Lord! Send us a table from the sky as a sign from You and a celebration for all of us, from the first to the last. Also, take care of us, because you are the best giver. (114:5)

Eid is a word that means “to come back.” Eid is also the name for happy birthdays and celebrations. Islamic law says that Eid is a day when a benefit or interest is earned, and it is also a day when people get together and pray in a unique way. Al-Azha (the day of the sacrifice) and Al-Fitr are also Eid days.

In Chapter 5, Verse 114, Prophet Isa (a.s.) asked God for food. This is seen as a wonder, and that day is celebrated as Eid by all people. In this verse, Eid is described as a divine gift that came down from heaven in the form of a tray or trays of tasty food. This became a sign for people to celebrate this day every year and bring joy and happiness over and over again. Also, the same gifts could come back every time these days come around, giving us humans another chance to connect with God and remember Him in our hearts and in our tongues.

It’s like a prayer that has both the form of a Friday prayer and the qualities of a Ghadeer Khum prayer.

Mafatih Al Jinan narrates from Imam Jafar Al Sadiq(as): ‘When Nowruz comes, make Ghosl (ceremonial wash), put on your clean clothes, and fragrant yourself with best perfumes, so when you are free of all other prayers, perform a four- rakaat prayer, each rakaat one Salam and in the first rakaat after Sura Al- Fateha ten times Sura Al-Qadr, and in the second rakaat after Al-Fateha ten times Al-Kaferoon. After Al-Feteheh, in the third rakaat, Al-Nass and Al-Falaq are said ten times. After prayer, bow down in thanks.’ The dua for nowruz is the basic and most important element of this day.
